James Edward Romick, Jr. 47, was arrested following an investigation into a pair of burglaries in the Spotsylvania Courthouse area that were reported in the last week, officials confirmed.
The first burglary was reported on Friday, Oct. 4 when video surveillance caught Romick entering the Spotsylvania Middle School shortly before 10 p.m., where he took several items belonging to teachers and other items from the building.
According to a spokesperson from the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office, the second was reported on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at Revive Ministries in the 9100 block of Old Battlefield Boulevard.
During that incident, investigators say that Romick allegedly stole musical items and electronics.
On Thursday afternoon, detectives executed a search warrant at a home in the Spotslee Subdivision, where they recovered stolen items from both burglaries as well as a stolen gun that was reported in the Courthouse area.
The Spotsylvania resident was charged with two counts of burglary with the intent to commit larceny, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a stolen firearm.
He is being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
